Let me (Dan) walk through some reasons you may find it preferable to working with us instead of one of our competitors, or why you may find our competitors to be a better fit.
Collaboration:
First, we are not a large reverse recruiting agency, but a small career coaching business composed of a few very dedicated and passionate reverse recruiters (me and Brad, my brother)! For some, this may seem like a negative, but one benefit of working with us is that you will work with Brad and me directly. We do not outsource any of our work, something many of our competitors do to lower their cost of business.
This means that while they may use highly qualified reverse recruiters and career professionals who know the space, they are often bolstering those efforts with low-cost talent abroad. This is not to dismiss anyone working from a different country, but when you are paying a premium for a service, you should know who is doing the work. And more importantly, the more people working on your account, the more likely key and crucial information is to be lost or misinterpreted.
Selection:
A complaint about Top Prospect Careers might be that we don’t take on all reverse recruiting clients and that we ask potential clients to fill out a form. There are two reasons for this:
1. We only work with people who we think we can help. Many of our competitors will work with anyone who will pay for them. Whereas we are only willing to work with clients who we believe we can help land a new role in a reasonable amount of time. Because of our pricing model, which I will go into more detail later, we are motivated to get you hired as soon as possible. It makes zero sense for you as a consumer to pay someone a fixed rate per month to help you land a job.
Additionally, it also makes zero sense for you as a consumer to work with a reverse recruiter who is not confident that they can help you or is not familiar with your particular area of expertise. Brad and I pride ourselves on being transparent, so if you fill out our form and we are fully booked or we are not a good fit to help you, we will let you know right away.
2. We only have the capacity to take on a maximum of 9 clients at a time, which allows us to provide higher quality services V.S. larger reverse recruiting companies. Our small book of business is necessitated by how much effort goes into a successful job search. From applications, searching for roles, connecting with key stakeholders, doing cold outreach, identifying relevant executive search firms, messaging, interview coaching, the list goes on.
Pricing:
This may come as a surprise, but we don’t want to work with you forever. The sooner you get hired, the better it is for everyone!
That is why our pricing model decreases, month-over-month until a very reasonable base, including a significant drop after the first 30-day period to reflect a change in what is most crucial in the job search. For example, we do not need to do onboarding call each 30-days, or a new resume, or LinkedIn. We can, but that time is better allocated to search, networking, and honing your interview abilities.
As mentioned, we are the only reverse recruiting services company that has a pricing model that decreases with time. Many of our competitors charge more than us, the ones who charge less have significantly fewer deliverables. However, if you were to work with any of our competitors with a package that matches TPC's deliverables, you’d be paying anywhere between $11 996 and $29 970. Whereas, if you were to work with Top Prospect Careers for a comparable amount of time, you’d pay up to 62% less.
The reason for this is simple: if we are charging you the same price every month, why would we care if you get hired in 4 weeks as opposed to a year? In fact, with a static pricing model, it would be better to work with you longer, which is why we don't use it.
What We Offer:
Some of our competitors do not include a resume, LinkedIn, or cover letter update or, if they do, it comes at an additional cost. Others don’t provide interview coaching or networking or resume customization. Unlike them, we offer almost everything we can as part of our package to help our clients land a role. In addition, we will tweak the strategy to coincide with where we are having the most success. For example, if you’re in a niche industry or looking for c-level roles, the strategy may need to focus on building relationships with executive search firms instead of applying for posted roles. Regardless, here is a list of what you can expect:

Summary:
The bottom line is to make sure when you are vetting any type of career coaching or reverse recruiting companies to make sure you understand who you are working with. While we stand by our services, if you are in an area we don't have experience in, you won't want to work with us! Practice that same discernment with anyone you talk to. Otherwise, you may land up regretting it.
Another key thing to keep in mind when thinking of hiring a reverse recruiter is that we are not miracle workers or magicians, and sometimes you can have the best experience and best skills and it still takes quite a while to get a decent-paying job, when economic times are slower. Beyond that, our services are grounded in reality. Yes, you may want a 150% salary increase or to jump to a completely different industry, but maintain the same pay and title. These things are often not possible.
